teru and ayame were never exactly meant to be, and ayame completely acknoledges that. when she did die, she spent a lot of her time as a supernatural observing teru from afar. she noticed how he behaved around akane and realized that he needed to move on. when he needed her most, she wanted to move on to the far shore in peace, so she ended up bringing teru and akane together. happy ending :3
