I'm gonna pause term searching requests for now because I really need to focus on school these next couple days in order to graduate. Feel free to keep sending me things other than that though E:)
(And to anyone who sent me requests that I haven't got to, I'll try and get to them during this time)
Saying this now, I don't want my posts to cause any discourse. If anyone has something to say about what I post then please say it directly to me (or not at all). As I don't want it to be blown out of proportion and turned into a whole thing. I'm just trying to provide a safe space for queer individuals and I allow mature discussion
Reminder that disliking my posts doesn't help curate your timeline in ridding my posts of it. You can block me
Polyplatonic is the closest I could find. I did a lot of searching on Tumblr for some more specific identities, but couldn't find much. E:/ I hope this label works!
I'm so sorry if this is gonna sound offensive, but I am genuinely curious ><''
How can transmen be lesbians if they are men?
It's understood as far as I know that cis men can't be lesbian because it is nmlnm, so if transmen are also men, what's the difference? /genq
I do understand the history, and I understand transmasc lesbians, but transmen lesbians still confuse me... TnT
It doesn't sound offensive don't worry! I actually made a comment talking about this yesterday, which you can find here. I'd recommend reading that, and then coming back to my response.
Being a lesbian is actually not nmlnm, that is one of the common misconceptions about this identity. /nm /info Nmlnm is more applicable to wlw or sapphic than it is to the term lesbian. Being a Lesbian is to be queerly attracted to women in some way! This can include cis men and trans men being queerly attracted to women, as long as both are using the term in a genuine, non mocking way
first off i love this theme!!!! :D anyways heres my question: is there a label where you fluctuate between wanting mono relationships & wanting poly relationships? ive been using the term ambiamorous but i feel like it doesn't fit what i feel like :P
Me after making this account with the promise of making queer content and advising others on identities, while secretly queer topics are a special interest of mineβso now I have an excuse to infodump /silly
Answer to an ask that @yandere sent me! (Because Tetratto sent my response into the fucking void for some reason..)
Question: What exactly does good-faith mean in terms of queer identities?
Good-faith identities are actually as simple as they sound! When you use a "confusing" or contradictory identity genuinely, you are using it in good faith. They are referred to as good-faith identities because of how other people might perceive those identities. Some might not understand, be confused, think you are using those identities as a mockery. Which isn't the case for people who use them as they were meant to be used. Basically, the term "good-faith" in relation to queer identity is meant to be kind of a differentiation of identities that are being used in good faith, in comparison to queerphobes using those identities as a mockery. It's fairly easy to tell when someone is using a confusing label in good faith or not. (In my opinion at least) Butβmany who are against contradictory/confusing identities for some reason sees the term "good-faith" as term that people who mock the queer community uses? When it is absolutely the opposite.
These terms often include: man lesbians, woman gays, mspec lesbians & gays, transmasc lesbians, transfem gays, trans man lesbians, trans man gays, nonbinary people who use gendered terms/genders/pronouns that are feminine or masculine, etc etc. The list goes on.
Now, I don't believe this post fully explains absolutely every aspect of these identites, why people refer to these identities as good-faith, the stigma and misunderstanding around it, all of that. (Especially because I am a bit tired, so I apologize if I got any information wrong or missed any especially important points.) So I do encourage you to continue to educate yourself and research this topic and the identities that come with it /nf
Of course, searching things up on the internet just in general is a good idea of what to do when you'd like to look into this topic. But! I recommend searching Tumblr for a bit! It's especially good for getting educated on terms. Also finding queer creators who use some of these terms themselves is a good idea. I personally recommend boygirlfemme on Twitter/Tumblr! (Shi actually is a big inspiration to why I made this account in the first place!)
I hope this could help! Let me know if you need clarification for anything E:)
