'hoyeon. what the fuck is a eyeball planet. this is supposed to be real stuff not some terraria bullshit' or. 'i didnt say anything at all' and to that YES! this is a real thing! eyeball planets are (hypothetical) tidally locked planets.

"hoyeon, what's a tidally locked planet? it sounds obvious as fuck but tell me anyway!" i'm glad you are SO curious about space today! they are terrestrial planets where liquids are present, which induce a spatially dependent temperature gradient. "why is it a gradient?" one side of the planet will be as hot and sweat inducing as being in a stuffed frat bro party when facing the star and the other side will be as cold as your ex when not facing the star which will limit the places where liquid CAN exist on the planet!

the difference between how they look is how close they are to the hoster star! for example, a "hotter" eyeball planet is closest to the star to the center of the "eye" facing the star is made of rock while the other has the liquid present. a "cold" eyeball planet (which if you paid attention, is farther from the star) will have the opposite effect with the liquid FACING the star while the rest of its surface is made up of ice and rocks! (?). the cool part about them is that they could be common and could host life and more likely in planetary systems orbiting red and brown dwarf stars which have much longer lifespans than main-sequence stars
